There is the kind of work that a farm does beyond the growing of food — the work of bringing people together. A farm that has fed a community for four generations understands something about gathering, that the long table, the orchard rows, the front porch; these have always been where the real connections happen.
We are in the process of building a conservatory at the farm. A glass house, open to the light, looking out over the same ground our family has tended since 1970. It is being built for the occasions that will be remembered — the birthdays and retirements, the rehearsal dinners that celebrate what comes next, the weddings small enough to feel intimate, the memorial services where grief needs room, the classes where knowledge passes between people in the same unhurried way that a good season passes. It will be a place for the company of friends or coworkers. It will be a place where the occasion feels like it matters, because the ground it stands on always has.
The Conservatory is coming soon to Hidden Acres Orchards. We'd be glad to talk through what you have in mind.
