Sourdough Starter instructions

How to reconstitute your new FREEZE-DRIED sourdough starter

Your jar contains 20g of starter. This recipe uses 10g to revive.

How to Revive Your Starter Day 1

  1. Add 10g of starter to a glass jar with 30g warm water. Stir well and let sit for 15 minutes.
  2. Add 20g warm water and 20g flour (all-purpose works great or use your favorite). Stir to combine, cover with a lid, and set in a warm spot overnight.

Day 2: Add 100g warm water and 100g flour. Stir, cover, and let sit overnight.

Day 3 and Beyond: Continue feeding daily — same ratio of water and flour — until your starter is active and doubles in size within a few hours of feeding in a warm spot.

Once it's happy and active, feed it until you have about 50g more starter than your recipe calls for. That extra 50g becomes your new "mother" starter to keep feeding for future bakes.
